My Story

Hello! I’m Daria Cooper, a licensed Psychotherapist based in Chicago, IL,  here to accompany you on this crazy journey we call life.

For many years, I have been providing various therapeutic services to individuals dealing with challenging life experiences. Much of this experience  derived from my service as a Volunteer Therapist for almost 8 years at Harold Washington College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago. I have particular skill in the areas of trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, sexual abuse, grief, relationships, and general life transitions.

I aim to provide a safe non-judgmental atmosphere for my clients to fully express themselves. My natural warmth, compassion, humor, and authentic curiosity make this possible. I remain actively involved in the therapeutic process, and use a direct approach in my communications with clients.

In my practice, the client / therapist relationship is paramount. So let's connect and together determine if we are a good fit.

By way of education, I received my undergraduate degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL and a Master's in Social Work from Loyola University in Chicago. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist through the International Association of Trauma Professionals. I also completed a post-graduate Trauma Consultation Training Program facilitated by Womencare Counseling & Training Center in Evanston, IL. I have additional training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness.

In my free time, I enjoy live music, comedy, spending time at the lake, traveling, and hanging out with family, close friends, and Kiva, my kitty.
